Camp Wieuca - After School

Camp Wieuca is a ministry branch of Church at Wieuca. Our purpose is to provide children with an engaging and nurturing Christian environment. We strive to show our campers a Christ-like example through growing relationships and fun, meaningful experiences. 


We are currently hiring After School Counselors for the school year.  This position will report to the Camp Director and is typically a college aged/seminary student that may be looking for a fun, rewarding after school job!

Work Hours: Afternoon hours are 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.        

- You can apply to work all 5 days a week or can apply to work certain days depending on your class schedule.
- This year, we will operate starting on August 1, 2024, and will be closed on all major school holidays. 
Main Responsibilities:

Develop activities for campers; supervise and participate during activitiesLead prepared Bible lessons enthusiasticallySupervise and help children complete homework assignmentsProvide structure and direction for campers, making sure campers are safe, secure, and having funHave strong group management skills and understand age-appropriate discipline methodsBe familiar with many game ideas and possess an energetic approach to the jobHave little or no need for direct supervision from head staffBe highly mature, adaptable, diplomatic, and caring Remain calm and non-anxious, even during stressful situationsHave an ability to learn and be able to follow instructions from head staffKeep the facility clean and organized every day
What skills and experience you should have:

As a faith-centered environment, we hope that you will have a growing personal relationship with Jesus ChristPrior related childcare experience preferred  Discretionary judgment and maturity accompanied by effective problem analysis and resolution skills in a loving and nurturing mannerA team player with the ability to cultivate a team spirit within the camp staffCPR/First Aid certification & knowledge of first aid a plusMust be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, sit for periods and move with the kids
